Housing Authority Want To Expand Cleveland Avenue Corridor

The Housing Authority of Winston-Salem presented a plan to the City-County Planning Board Thursday that would convert Cleveland Avenue Homes into a mixed-use development and increase the number of housing units in the Cleveland Avenue corridor, according to the Winston-Salem Journal.

The project would cost $275 million and involve nearly 130 acres in the city's northeastern section. It would be over 20 years using public and private money, the paper reported.

HAWS would work with developers to create commercial and residential projects in the area, the Winston-Salem Journal reported.

"We wanted to put together a plan that would affect the entire neighborhood and not just Cleveland Avenue Homes," said Larry Woods, CEO of HAWS, according to the Winston-Salem Journal.
